Project Description

Why did you choose this profession?

I worked as a journalist prior to becoming a physical therapist. I changed careers to combine my love of asking strangers questions and my desire to help people in a more hands-on way. I think the problem-solving that I get to do while helping different people is a fun challenge.

What is your best quality as a professional?

I like listening to patients and getting excited with them about their goals.

What do you find most compelling about your job?

I like that each patient is unique and requires me to pull on different parts of my understanding, or increase my understanding, of the human body.

What are some of your Favorites?

Favorite color: anything neon

Favorite hikes: Sugarloaf Mountain (the one by Beacon NY), Chiricahua Peak.

Favorite road race: New York Road Runners Brooklyn Half Marathon

What are you doing in the Community?

I volunteer with the Syracuse Spinal Association, SUNY Stroke Support Group and the McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center and Vera House. I am also an adaptive ski and snowboarding instructor at Arise and Ski and an anthology editing committee member at Girls Write Now.
