Project Description

Why did you choose this profession?

I always knew I wanted to go into the medical field, due to my love for learning and helping others. While there are many career options in the medical field, I was drawn most to physical therapy. When I was in middle school, my dad was serious snowmobile accident. After multiple surgeries, he required physical therapy. Through the patience and dedication of his physical therapists, my dad progressed from using a wheelchair for mobility to eventually walking independently.  His PT’s helped my dad gradually grow stronger and become more like his old self. After witnessing the role that the physical therapist played on my dad’s recovery, coupled with my desire to work in a healthcare position, I knew that I wanted to be a Physical Therapist

What is your best quality as a professional?

I am a compassionate person and am able to easily empathize with and care for others. One of my favorite aspects of physical therapy is developing personal connections with my patients. I enjoy helping my patients maximize their movement so that they can achieve their goals for improved function and quality of life. I like being a physical and emotional coach, and helping my patients succeed.

Interests and Hobbies?

Professionally, I’m most interested in treating the lower body, including the hip, knee, ankle, and foot joints. I enjoy treating a wide variety of populations, from orthopedic and sport-related injuries to neurological conditions. I like working with individuals of all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics.

In my free time, I like to run, ride my bike, and hike. I also like to play board games, especially Clue, Catch Phrase, and Qwirkle.

Did you know?

I worked at an ice cream stand as a summer job for 8 years in high school and college, and love almost all flavors of ice cream.

What do you find most compelling about your job?

I love that as a physical therapist, I am able to help others improve their quality of life and get back to what they enjoy doing most. I have always loved the phrase “movement is medicine,” and like that I can help others recover with conservative techniques. I also love that in PT, I am able to develop personal connections with my patients over a span of time.

What are some of your favorites?

I love all Italian food, but my favorite is lasagna! My favorite TV shows are Friends and Full House
