Project Description

Why did you choose this profession?

I have always had an interest in health care since I was young. I find the field interesting and fulfilling in many ways…the medical side of the industry, the evolving issues and needs of the public’s health over generations and the economic implications of the health care-industrial complex. It is all very interesting to me.

What do you find most compelling about your job?

The unique nature of PT as a medical specialty. We get to help our patients get back to living, working, and playing better. Every day our Physical Therapists are empowering our patients with the knowledge and tools they need in order to help heal themselves and even prevent future injury. Personally, I love that this specialty involves our patients in their own care to the extent that it does. Really this involvement in their own care is a requirement to receive the full benefit of Physical Therapy – that is both empowering to our patients and an important shift in our health care system.

Professionally, I love that we are serving a purpose in helping our patients while also leading fulfilling careers. Because we are specialist providers, in many ways we have to break the mold of thinking that we are “just” a medical practice. We are also a small business. We must be creative in finding ways to be more efficient and grow as a business, ensure that the local communities are aware of who Onondaga Physical Therapy is, and most importantly – continually improve the experience we are providing for our patients. Over the years this has been something I have loved having a hand in.

Interests and Hobbies?

I love spending time with my husband, Jake, and our two sons – Henry and Wagner – as well as all of our family and friends. If it involves the outdoors at all, you can count us in! I love to read and do so everyday – thank goodness for Kindle Unlimited! I also love to cook and have been a runner for most of my life. If you see me running in CNY, be sure to beep and say hi!

Did you know?

We make our own maple syrup each year from our own maple trees. We also have honey bees!

Favorite Food?

Do I have to name just one? I always say “I just love food!” I love to eat it and cook it!
