Project Description

Why did you choose this profession?
I grew up dancing and they taught us anatomical structures as it pertained to our form. Dance introduced me to my love of movement and the human body. I had the opportunity to join a program called New Visions for my senior year of high school. I spent time in various healthcare settings allowing me to shadow different specialties. I spent time in both inpatient and outpatient settings with physical therapists and fell in love with the profession. What drew me to physical therapy was the relationships I observed between provider and patient. So often we see providers once a year for short periods of time, I love that I get to see my patients regularly, help them achieve their physical goals, and spend time getting to know them.
What is your best quality as a professional?
I connect well with patients; bringing empathy, active listening, and encouragement to the relationship. I find building camaraderie with not only my patients, but all in the clinic aids in a positive clinical space, helping patients to feel at ease and wanting to come back!
Interests and hobbies?
I enjoy painting, reading, and gardening, when not doing those, I love snuggling my cats or spending time with loved ones. I’m looking forward to returning to dance as an additional hobby.
Did you know?
I am a die-hard Swiftie!
What do you find most compelling about your job?
Throughout a course of treatment, there are peaks and plateaus. Being able to help my patients past plateaus and seeing them accomplish goals is the thing I enjoy most about my job.
