Project Description

Why did you choose this profession?
I’ve always been interested in the medical field and wanted a career where I could make an impact on people’s lives. I hold a black belt in both Shotokan and Okinawan Karate, and through years of training, I developed a deep appreciation for the mechanics of the human body, injury prevention, and disciplined movement. Becoming a Physical Therapist felt like the perfect intersection of those interests, as I enjoy assisting others overcome physical challenges and achieve their functional goals.
What is your best quality as a professional?
My best quality is my ability to adapt to the needs of my patients. Every patient is unique, and I enjoy the challenge of figuring out what approach will work best for each case.
Interests and hobbies?
I continue to practice karate and enjoy playing both electric and acoustic guitar. I started doing both at the age of 4 and never stopped!
Did you know?
I had the honor of representing the United States in an international karate tournament in Ireland!
What do you find most compelling about your job?
I enjoy the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in someone’s life, and how every case presents a unique puzzle to solve. It’s incredibly fulfilling to help someone return to the activities that matter most to them. At the same time, no two patients are exactly alike, even if they have the same diagnosis, which allows me to be creative in the treatment ideas that I can incorporate into their care.
What are some of your Favorites?
TV Shows: Chicago Fire/Med, Seinfeld
Baseball Team: Mets
Hockey Team: Islanders (and the Oswego Lakers)
Food: Chicken Wings
What are you doing in the Community?
Every year, I travel to Massachusetts to attend a support group for individuals born with upper limb differences, like me. I’ve been attending since I was a child, and over the years, I’ve taken on a mentorship role within the group. I support children and their families by sharing my personal experiences growing up with a limb difference via answering questions, offering encouragement, and helping them navigate challenges such as school, sports, guitar, and finding adaptive strategies. It’s a deeply rewarding experience, and I’m proud to give back to a community that has supported me.
