Project Description

Why did you choose this profession?

Until midway through my undergraduate I was planning on becoming a Chemistry professor or working in pharmaceutical product development. When I got to Physical Chemistry I decided that I didn’t like Chemistry as much as I thought and switched to Pre-Medical. While I was shadowing in a hospital for my Pre-Med degree I spent some time helping with patient transport in the PT department and liked what I saw there. It wasn’t until I got to PT school and started learning more about orthopaedics that I really fell in love with the profession and the human body

What is your best quality as a professional?

Probably my best quality as it relates to being a PT is that I am capable of a reasonably high level of attention to detail. I enjoy getting into the nitty gritty of how symptoms tend to behave and what movements or positions may make them better or worse so that I can formulate a plan for addressing the symptoms as efficiently as possible. It’s sometimes a messy process but just making an honest attempt to learn about a patient and their problem is extremely rewarding.

Interests and hobbies?

I love to read – mostly history and myths but I’ll read basically any kind of story. Preferably very old ones. I also get a ton of joy out of hiking.

Did you know?

My wife and I moved to the area in early 2025 after spending 5 years living and working in New Jersey, near the shore.

What do you find most compelling about your job?

The most interesting and challenging thing about being a PT is that no two days are the same. Every patient is unique and every physical problem is unique as far as the contributing factors and barriers to recovery that need to be addressed. Also, things are always changing throughout a patient’s recovery and that makes it so that this line of work is never boring and careful attention to all aspects of a patient’s problem is warranted at all times.
